POPPY DISGRACE OF GREEN BRIGADE

LET me tell you you a story a pal's son - a serving soldier - told me about some of the brave guys and girls who serve with him on the front line.

It's about the football team many of them support. And the way they feel ignored and completely rejected by that club.

As opposed to the way they see their comrades-in-arm, not merely acknowledged, but actually feted by the club those mates support.

The clubs are of course Celtic and Rangers, with the welcome for serving servicemen and women at Ibrox warm and friendly.

On more than one occasion in the past year those boys and girls who put their lives on the line have marched out onto the pitch at Ibrox and been warmling received and applauded by Rangers supporters. Visiting fans have also joined in that applause.

It is a memory those soldiers, sailors and air force personnel will treasure for the rest of their lives.

According to my pal's son, it is an honour his front line mates who follow Celtic would love to be given by their club. But one which has not been forthcoming.

And, in the current climate, with the zealots of the Green Brigade  unfurling their anti Poppy banners at Parkhead on Saturday, one can only imagine what lengths this lunatic fringe would go to if Celtic ever did invite service men and woman to parade on the park in uniform and take a bow.

There is a real danger that unless Celtic take a firm and extremely public stand on this offensive issue, many will seek to say the club is dancing to the Green Brigade's tune.

There does appear to be an element of apprehension about what the Green Brigade may be capable of among the wider range of Celtic fans, for when I asked my pal's boy why his Celtic front line mates did not seek to gain publicity, he explained there was a fear among them.

Not, you understand, for themselves, but for their wives and children, girlfriends, mums and dads, and grandparents.

One of the other points this squaddie made to me was one that I have long believed to the the case. You don't ask the guy next to you in the trench, or the girl guarding your back on patrol in enemy territory, what school they went to.

Celtic supporters have a long and honourable history of service to the Crown in the cause of freedom. The sacrifice made by many of a Parkhead persuasion has helped to win the freedom those in the Green Brigade chose to abuse in such a tawdry fashion.

What they are guilty of may be thought by many as something similar to Fascist and Nazi beliefs their Celtic supporting predecessors fought against. Many died defeating it.

This Green Brigade group have a long history of acting in the same manner as what used to be described as the Loony Left, and frankly I have never seen any difference between the extreme left and the extreme right.

Celtic have been left embarrassed again by the actions of this group. Now, according to a spokesman, Celtic will investigate just how the offensive banners got into the ground. Which is a mystery, as many a visiting fan will tell you they are searched ,and any banner they may have is confiscated if the stewards decide it is offensive.

Perhaps the stewards did view the Green Brigade's banner and decide it was okay.

However, it is not a comment from a Celtic spokesman we need. What is required is some bold words from Celtic chairman, The Baron Reid of Cardowan, who once stood just one step down from the head of the Armed Forces, as Her Majesty's Secretary of State for Defence.

Baron Reid of Cardowan, by speaking out in the sort of strong language he often favours, would also take a huge step towards slapping down and silencing the zealots of the Green Brigade if he announced that at Celtic's next home game, a group of Celtic suppporting boys and girls from all three branches of the Armed Forces, will be invited to parade in uniform on the Parkhead pitch and take a bow.

This would give the many Celtic supporters who have children, grandchildren other relations or friends, in those Amed Forces, and those who have served themselves, or whose fathers, grandfathers and uncles won them their freedom, the chance to drown out the Green Brigade.

Surely that old political bruiser The Baron Reid of Cardowan, is not afraid of taking such a bold action?

The boys and girls who serve on the front line with my pal's son, and who support Celtic, would welcome such an invitation.

These Green Brigade clowns really are such a shower of low lifes.

They also carry banner including Anti-fascist and Che Guevara CSC. Oh the irony of it all!

They are verging on fascist behaviour themselves and then Che Guevara??? Part of his revolutionary masterplan was to ban the Catholic religion!!

If they had a spare brain between them it would be lonely!

For any visitor who is unsure what this story refers to, try looking at this:- http://i.imgur.com/CXm26.jpg

You'll need to excuse the illiteracy of the moronic Green Brigade who struggle to spell easy words like 'blood', the very substance British soldiers have paid with to earn the freedom these scumbags enjoy. The complete silence of the mhedia yesterday regarding this protest also speaks volumes about their allegiances too.

To all decent thinking people I say "Wear your poppy with pride this week, show the world we care about sacrifices made, and still being made, by our armed services to give us our freedom and let's send a clear message to the foetid, festering green slime that populates the east end of Glasgow every other Saturday"

Great blog as usual Leggo, we know where to look for the stories that other journalists seem unable or unwilling to cover.

Wasting your time on this subject Leggo, they have no shame! Reid, Liewell and the rest haven't an ounce of common decency between them.

This is nothing new, no-where near it! we are subject to pro republican bile every single week from parkhead and even more from the away games. Is it EVER picked up on by our cowardly press?? i think everyone knows the answer to that. Our press are a cowardly bunch of hacks! no bottle and no moral fibre they'd be as well singing it themselves COWARDS TO A MAN! Just like the Celtic board in fact.

I notice the amount of anonymous! leaving stupid comments! they're not happy with the article but the fact they read it and it makes their blood boil is good enough for me. Keep up the good work Leggo show them for what they are. Unfortunately your a lone voice.

Keep up the good work; the moronic ill-informed ramblings from the deluded plastic "freedom fighters" whose greatest claim to fame is the several thousand of irishmen who died fighting for Great Britain in WW1 and WW2, that's for not against, are amongst those we remember every year. you see dhimbo it a rememberence symbol for all dead of all wars. including the six celtic players who died in WW1 one of which won a VC.

They are never mocked they were taken in and looked after, we never sing about them. What we are asking is if you hate this country so much, if you hate this countries service personal so much, if you feel you are abused and victimised so much, if you want nothing to do with this country and want to live in the ROI then why don't you go. No one is stopping you, the famine has passed there is nothing stopping you going so just go.

Oh, but the Rangers support sing "the Famine song" ... no, they don't. If you'd ever grasp that over at Parkhead. They sing a chours to which the actual Famine song was added later. A song that is never aired by Rangers supporters. For no Rangers supporter would laugh or joke about the deaths of thousands of children and women, be they Irish, Spanish, Palestinian or whatever. What they ask with this refrain though is why you, who hate this land so much, who love Ireland so much, don't go there and make it your home ... rather than praise people who killed so many Britons home and abroad. If there ever was a truer definition of Native Alien, it must be Green Brigade.

The way Celtic and the Green Brigade have bullied the Scottish media and some authorities like the SFA into silence is reminiscent of the way the Jews are treated in Germany these past 20odd years. You could hardly open your mouth joking about a Jew or asking what this or that Jewish politician or chap does over here without being looked upon as some kind of Neonazi. Only after the 2006 World Cup, the Germans have been able to claw back at least a touch of national pride and present their colours proudly and openly. One would hope that the SFA and all other parties involved start to grow a spine again.

Even the Veterans are noticing this poppy fascism, huns look forward to it more than Christmas lol

A group of veterans from conflicts including the Falklands and Northern Ireland have complained of the increasing glitz and glamour of the annual poppy appeal and of it being hijacked to marshall public support behind current campaigns.
In a letter in tomorrow's Guardian, the veterans argue that the original aim of the appeal as a sombre commemoration of the war dead and the horrors of conflict was in danger of being lost amid the marketing spin and tub-thumping political aims.

"A day that should be about peace and remembrance is turned into a month-long drum-roll of support for current wars. This year's campaign has been launched with showbiz hype. The true horror and futility of war is forgotten and ignored," they write.

As for the clown above claiming we are all Glaswegian with British passports, well thats just not true.

Just when will the Scottish political cowards pack, step up to the plate and condemn these animals? Not one single MP or MSP from Scotland had had the decency to say what the decent majority of Scots think about this vermin in our midst.

Just when will they end their appeasment of the terrorism currently taking place?

All decent people revere, applaud and honour war veterans. Celtic FC and its supporters denigrate, besmirch and revile them. They laud terrorist child murderers who detonate bombs in shopping centres and busy streets. That's the difference between them and the rest of civilised society.

Just look at the pathetic "what about them" comments. The Famine song mocks no dead, it tells people if you don't like OUR country, then feel free to leave.

The offer still stands. If you don't like our nation and our values, go somewhere else.

Instead of launching an investigation as to how the banner got in, maybe they can tell us why it was allowed to stay up for so long. The authorities there never seem to have a problem removing banners from visiting fans that they don't like. You're kidding no one with your kid on investigation Lawell and co.

It has got to the stage where decent common decency has lost it's place in British society. A message to those who think we "look forward" to this, you could not be further from the truth. I am against the politicisation (sp) of the poppy and what it stands for. The men and women of all creeds and colours, British or not who the poppy represents fought and died to let you have the freedom to speak out against it.

It is worth noting that Celtic DID invite soldiers to Celtic Park, however they were not to be paraded, nor were they to wear their uniform, rather there were to be dressed in civvies, which is a sad state of affairs, which shames all of the honest, decent Celtic supporters, of which there are many.

You may be against the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, however the debt that we as a country owe these men and women, and their families, can NEVER be measured, God Bless them all.

Liewell and Baron Reid would never invite servicemen and women to parade at the Stade de Gadd in their uniform. Because then the whole world would actually see how big the "small minority"

Everyone outwith the hun realise that soldiers are only invited to the bigot dome as a pointscoring excercise. Its funny to see the lice in the stands go all teary eyed and patriotic and then seconds later order soldiers who are Celtic fans to "go home".

They're warped fascist minds cant even take in the irony.

Not just Scotlands shame but the worlds shame=bigot fc "fans".

No one is telling the Irish to go home. What I'm saying is very simple. If you don't like our country, you are free to depart asap. For those of Irish descent who assimilate and do not show complete and utter hatred towards Scottish people, we welcome you and thank you for your contribution to our fantastic nation.

To the Republican slime, you are not wanted, never will be and we ask you shut the door when leaving.

There is a difference though, between working class RC's and Republican slime who worship child killers. Why would any civillised society want or even pretend to want these scumbags to remain?

As for our silent politicians - shame on each and everyone of them.

Only in the sick mind of the Bheast, would inviting local soldiers to a football stadium be classed as point scoring??? Point scoring over who? Normal Scots see it as welcoming home our soldiers, our neighbours and friends. We don't see it as point scoring.

But then we don't see killing children as something to support either.

Only in the mad, sick world of the Bheast.

A TOP Ulster Loyalist was shot dead in Belfast last night on his way back from a Rangers match.

John "Grugg" Gregg, 45, a leading member of the Ulster Defence Association, was gunned down in a taxi in the city's docks area at 10.15pm.

He was travelling home after watching Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Ibrox.

The Scottish governments response...

"It is this very freedom of expression that those who protest against the wearing of a poppy are exercising. While such a view is not shared by most of Scotland’s people, it is the right of those who made their position clear at Celtic Park on 6 November to protest in the way they did. They committed no criminal offence."

Some people mabove ought to remember that over 10% of Celtic's support is NOT British and they DO go home, after every game,ok?

Fifty people, including veterans, turned up for a remembrance parade a week early after road closure signs showed the wrong date.

The signs in Shotton, Flintshire, showed that the event was on 7 November, instead of 14 November.

Local councillor Bernie Attridge called it "incompetence," saying some people were upset, and he wants an apology from Flintshire council officials.

The council apologised and said the mistake was "extremely regrettable".

Mr Attridge, who represents Connah's Quay Central, said he was alerted to the signs on Saturday morning, and telephoned the council to demand they were taken down.

"The damage had already been done," said Mr Attridge.

"I went to the cenotaph on Sunday and I was amazed at how many people had seen the signs.

"There was one chap there in full military uniform. One woman was in tears. She had lost her son in conflict and religiously goes to military services.

"She said Remembrance parades are hard enough, and to have this on top is awful.

"Having seen the signs, she presumed the service had been moved forward."

He added: "I was livid.

"At first I thought it was a sick joke and someone had put a few signs up.

"How could they get it so wrong? It's madness.

"At a time when councils are cutting back on costs, there were 25 signs, and staff to distribute them - what's the cost of that? It's total incompetence."

Neal Cockerton, head of assets and transportation at Flintshire council, said: "The signs were placed out on Friday and withdrawn on Saturday morning when we were made aware of the mistake.

"The error is extremely regrettable and we apologise for this mistake and any distress it may have caused."

Today the world has seen the true heart of Celtic FC, no amount of denial, spin, deflect or lies can retrieve the untold damage this Green Brigade have done to their club. The Celtic board can apologise till their blue in the face (no pun intended) it matters not a jot now, Max Clifford could not improve there public image now. The world knows what everyone else has been saying since 1888 Celtic FC is bigoted, sectarian and treacherous to the Country of it's birth. If they as a club hate all things British why is their director and owner so keen on moving to the EPL? that's the English Premier League to the dyslexic amongst the Green Brigade. The day that club ceases to exist or relocates to the country of it's heritage, is the day the rest of the country rejoices.

the green brigade are finding excuses for the poppy to be representational of the british army - and therefore have an excuse to voice political opinion.

the problem is, the poppy is not representational of the british army.

worldwide the poppy is a symbol of rememberance. a symbol of memorial for the war dead.

it is recognised as such in over 10 countries - even Germany has marked the war dead with poppys - does this mean the German people are still supporters of nazism?

even the several charities in the UK which chose to be represented by the poppy, take a completely neutral political viewpoint towards conflict. they only support the injured, the widows, the orphans.

attacking the poppy and describing it as bloostained(sic) shows an utter lack of respect towards the war dead, and is completely misguided as to what the poppy stands for.

Education has clearly failed the Green Brigade, perhpas the blame should be footed at the door British education system, assuming the culprits actually come from Britain.
