JELAVIC'S INJURY

DO YOU remember when Kyle Lafferty cheated against Aberdeen to get Charlie Mulgrew sent off? And do you remember too, the number of times the incident was replayed on television?

Can you also remember  when Lafferty was sent off against Hibernian this season, and the amazing amount of airtime on television this incident was given ?

Then, can you remember when Kevin Thomson was sent off against Hearts at Tynecastle last season, and the number of times his silly sideways lunge was repeated on the box?

Now hit the fast forward button and let's return to Tynecastle and highlight the moment when a terrible tackle from behind - outlawed by FIFA - by Ian Black on Nikica Jelavic, injured the striker so badly  he had to fly home for surgery and is not expected to play again for anything up to four months.

But where have all the television replays been of the tackle from a match shown live on ESPN?

That's a tricky one, for it has been hard to catch up with them, as on Monday and Tuesday night's Reporting Scotland - the licence fee funded national broadcaster - it appears we are in the midst of some old fashioned height of the Cold War Kremlin-style cover up.

And as far as that modern phenomenon, which has fast become an old reliable, YouTube? Well, anyone trying to find the Black tackle which crippled Jelavic there will draw a blank, and be met with the message....

"The clip of the Black tackle on Jelavic has been removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim by the Scottish Premier League."

That will be the same Scottish Premier League who have ensured  Rangers must face five away matches on the weekends following their six Champions League ties.

Does anyone detect a pattern here?

Rangers player sins, his sin is missed by the referee, but caught on camera and his sin is shown over and over and over, again and again and again.

Or, Rangers player sins, is caught by the referee and punished by him with a red card, and the sin, again caught on camera, is repeated on television over and over and over, again and again and again.

As opposed to Rangers player is the victim of a bad tackle -  one which many believe merited a red card ,but which was dealt with by a yellow - and is badly injured. And the result???

Blank screens!

People are therefore robbed of their right as licence payers to see the clip again and again and again, over and over and over on BBC Scotland's Reporting Scotland at the peak tea time viewing hour, in order that they can form their own judgement.

Rangers supporters though must be indebted to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record and Scott Burns of the Scottish Daily Express, for their interviews with Jelavic.

It's taken Black long enough to issue a public apology claiming it was an accident, and that the Rangers man was too quick for him.

But Jelavic, as quoted in the Record and Express, is having none of it.

If the public were given the opportuinity by the BBC, the state funded broadcaster, to view the incident from all the angles - as was the case when Lafferty and Thomson sinned - then a judgement could be formed on whether Black was unlucky, and Jelavic even more unlucky.

 Or not!

That would be justice. For Black, and for Jelavic. For, as I have often stated, for justice to be done, it must be seen to be done.

One reporter, who has the inside track at Ibrox, says that senior Rangers sources are seething with anger. The speculation is one senior source is Walter Smith.

He spent over £4m of the meagre transfer budget afforded him by the club's Lloyds Bank paymasters on Jelavic, and the striker was showing every sign of forming an intelligent and lethal partnership with Kenny Miller.

There was also - in a sort of perverse way - the bonus of the fact  he is ineligble for Europe, meaning Rangers were hoping to look to Jelavic as an injection of fresh legs to the team for the next four away matches they have been ordered by the SPL to play immediately after Champions League ties.

His loss in the Champions League - a tournament Rangers cannot possibly hope to win - was therefore balanced by the rest he would have ahead of SPL games, as the champions bid to retain their domestic crown.

That benefit would have been seen next when the first Old Firm game of the season takes place at Parkhead a few days after Rangers must face the team settling Spain alight right now, Valencia.

Now Jelavic - as a result of the injury he suffered following the tackle by Black, - will not only miss that match, but may still be sidelined when Celtic visit Ibrox on January 2.

His injury may turn out to be a Marco Negri moment for Rangers.

Whether that proves to be the case or not, in the interest of justice - for Black as well as Jelavice for it would give the Hearts man a chance to prove his claim of his lack of malice - the incident in which the Rangers man is the injured party should be given the same television prominence as those occasions when it has been the Rangers player who has been the sinner.

Over and over and over, again and again and again.

Once again a true and insightful article pointing out one of the many green and grey striped elephants in the room.

However, the taigs will be on within minutes spouting their bile as they loath truth as much as they loath soap.

Sorry, I forgot, we "huns" arn't allowed to call them taigs, as it is offensive.

I also await the day when BBC Scotland has an education feature in a non demoninational school.

Hey Leggo - you and the rest of the huns should go over to Kerrydale Street forum. On there the clip is being played over & over & over again. The informed consensus seems to be that Jelavic was being "cute" and it was he who actually tried to do the Hearts boy.

And why did the huns send Jelavic of on international duty ? Are they not able to aford their own medical bills now, and were hoping that it would be headlined as an injury whilst on international duty.

Poor poor hunnothy.

@ Anonymous 13:43 - What a clown you are - any player has to report for International duty if requested to do so by their country. It is their decision to decide on the extent of the injury. On that subject I see the lego eater has witghdrawn from Scotland duty so he doersn't get a showing up against a decent midfield player rather than Lietchenstein - what a waste of £4M hahahaha

I notice you didn't mention the incident in which Bougherra kicked the Aberdeen keeper in the face and was sent off. That incident was shown 'again and again and again, over and over and over' and resulted in Bougherra having his red card (rightfully) rescinded. So it's clear that TV evidence has benefited Rangers in the past as well as being used to (entirely correctly) condemn the actions of Lafferty etc.

Besides the clip of Black's tackle is freely available to anyone with a computer.

Good article Leggo.

Interestingly, the state-funded BBC also didnt deem the following incidents of recent weeks worthy of their "highlights" show:

Lee McCulloch being deliberately stamped on by an Aberdeen player.
Anthony Stokes' shocking, over-the-top challenge which could have broken a Killie player's leg
Scott Brown's attempted off-the-ball boot at an opponent in the same game, which resulted in an injury to himself!

However, we were all glad to see Allan McGregor stupidly lashing out at an opponent at Pittodrie (and missing) DID make it into their "highlights" show.

Something sinister afoot? Or are we paranoid?

This site is so paranoid it's fast becoming my favourite read for a laugh, "the meagre £4 million budget" lols! that's 20 years spending money for 80% of the SPL, the poor Rangers!

Lee McCullech did a forearm smash on Peter Pawletts neck last season that any Wrestler would have been proud of, punishment? zip! news follow up? zip.

Neil Simpson tackles Durrant and damages his ligaments and its still getting mentioned in the press to this very day, if it had happened the other way round it would have been old news by the Sunday.

Rangers and paranoia, christ man they've been getting every break from referees since their inception, they also get the bulk of the money and the glory hunt support, try following your local team before deciding how hard you have it.

"That will be the same Scottish Premier League who have ensured Rangers must face five away matches on the weekends following their six Champions League ties"

Is that the same SPL fixture list, computer generated at random, which is drawn up months before the Champions League draw has even been made. I would even suggest the qualifying rounds for the Champion's League may not even have started before the fixtures were released.

A little thought about that fact may have made you come across as a slightly credible journalist. Sadly your small-mindedness and obviously lack of journalistic training and intelligence shows here and makes any argument you try to make completely lacking in credit

Got to love the filth, tell the truth and they lie, deflect and deny, they try to claim the moral high ground but the simple fact is, they support a football club which stayed silent and allowed dozens of kids to be abused, in effect they condoned child abuse and their support deny, deflect and lie about it, as do the Broadcast mhedia who they have in their pocket, I'll accept no lecture on morals from those who support Paedophillia!

The CL fixtures are set well in advance, this is due to the qualifying games and the International games which are also scheduled well in advance, sometimes by up to two years in advance. I admit this is something you may not have been aware of having not been near the Champions League in years.

I#d also like to point out to a previous poster who claims it was in fact Jelavic who had tried to 'do' Black, how can he do this when he is a yard in front of him and running away, another case of Timothy logic. I blame the Schools myself.

There has been a serious bit of editing of the highlights from Saturday on the BBC Rangers website. Every major incident from the game is in tact, apart from, yes, you guessed it - the Black tackle on Jelavic. It seems the 'friends of Lawell' society are already at work at the Daily Record. While Keith Jackson wrote an article on it, at the same time 3 Celtic stooges were decrying Rangers as hypocrites. The truth is, everyone's a hypocrite in football, but that doesn't make it acceptable for the media (and the BBC in particular) to cover-up the incident. The BBC have an obligation to be impartial, as it's written in their charter. Yet BBC Scotland seem to think they are beyond the rules. Perhaps a bit of crowd sourcing in the right areas would make them change their attitude.

Rangers blog written by a Rangers fan for consumption by huns.
Not to be taken as a serious piece of journalism.
You will find the same paranoid nonsense on FF just with more bad language.
Say something often enough and for a non questioning few it becomes FACT (c) FF.

One of these days you may actually write something that would not be found on FF,now that would be interesting.

Good for a laugh though, keep it up.

Think man - Rangers qualified automatically for the group phases, the dates for which will have been set in stone on the football priority calendar weeks if not months before the SPL fixture list was published - only the great unwashed needed to worry about qualifiers & fancy, had they had a clue how to defend, they'd have been in the group phases, with the corresponding opposite of Gers commitments, ie 5 home games after CL nights! Even if they'd been able to qualify for the Europa league, the Green n'Greys would have been blessed with 5 home league games to follow european ties! UEFA don't hang around waiting to see which Scottish teams qualify before making up their fixture lists to suit

For 7 years the media have had their knives out for us....

Why?

I think its for one of 2 reasons or a bit both:
1) Murray holds less power and doesn't scare our gutless, knowledge'less biased media
2) Murray holds less power and doesn't grease the palms of our gutless, knowledge'less biased media

Either way we have a bunch of gutless, knowledge'less and biased media 'reporters'
